From the SCA page: "The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international organization dedicated to researching and recreating pre-17th-century European history." Does that explain anything? No? Let's try again, shall we. The SCA is a non-profit organization in which it's members recreate the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The SCA can be compared to two other groups; Civil War re-enactment only earlier, or Renaissance Faires where everyone participates and no one is a spectator. Some of the foci of the SCA include researching the arts and sciences and activities of pre- 17th century Europe, the martial activities of that period, and in general courtesy, chivalry and kindness to all.
Genevieve d'Aquitaine, Baroness of the Court of Atlantia, Mistress of the Order of the Pelican
My lord is Baron Alan Gravesend (normally Alan Smith), who is also a member of the auspicious Order of the Pelican. He has awards enough to fill up a page, so I won't list them here. He participates in armoured and rapier combat in the SCA, as well as just stepping down as Atlantia's Earl Marshal. He sticks mostly with an Elizabethan gentleman persona, which he likes to apply his vast knowledge of English military history to. He does a minimum amount of woodworking in order to keep our pavilion comfortably furnished.
When I am not working I enjoy sewing the costumes for my SCA activities. I've also done some tablet weaving, fingerloop braiding, and one class on glassblowing. I do enjoy dabbling in a bit of everything though. Almost everything is a work in-progress.
